Faith (Iman) is when something happens to man, his heart, belief and convictions remain rejecting doubts about the truth. There are six pillars of faith that Muslims must know and believe.
1. Belief in God (Allah s.w.t.)
Muslims believe that there is no God worthy of worship except Allah "lailaha illallah". That is the basis of the faith of every Muslim. The most important teaching of Islam is faith in tawhid. Believing in all the pillars of Iman is part of our faith and worship also it determines the degree of believer whether the person is a true Muslim or not. Tawhid binds all races, colours and humankind as whoever belief with kalimah tayyibah considered as Islam. Every Muslim believes that Allah is the sole creator and omnipotent in the entire universe. God has 99 names that show God’s limitless power.
2. Belief in the Angles
Angels is Allah's creation made from light. They have no free-will and always obey the commandments of God. The purpose Allah created them are for worshipping Him and carrying out His orders. Even we cannot see them, yet we still believe their existence because believing in angels is one of the pillars of faith. Each of them has their own specific task. There are numerous angels but only ten angels are obligatory for us to know.
Jibril: Send revelation to the prophets
Mikail: Delivers sustenance or rezki (رزق)
Ridhwan: The angel of heaven
Malik: The angel of hell
Munkar & Nakir: Questioning the dead in the grave
Raqib & 'Atid: The Honourable Recorders. One writes good deeds while the other writes bad deeds
Israfil: The trumpet blower
Izra'il: The angel of death
3. Belief in God's Revealed Books
As a Muslim, believing in all the books revealed to the messengers is one of the pillars of faith. Allah has told us about some of the names of the holy books in the Quran. There are four most scriptures in Islam which are the Taurah revealed to Musa a.s. in Hebrew language, the Zaboor revealed to Dawood a.s. in Hebrew language, the Injeel revealed to 'Eesaa a.s in Aramaic language and Al-Quran revealed to the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. in Arabic language. In Al- Quran Surah Ali- Imran verse 3, Allah s.w.t says:
"He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel."And Allah s.w.t. says in Surah Al- Israq verse 55,
"Your Lord knows all who dwell in the heavens and the earth. We have exalted some Prophets over others, and We gave the Psalms to David."
